I Melt with You

A suicidally downbeat Big Chill for men, exploring the disappointment inherent to middle age. You grow up expecting the world but in the end you only get a life, and these forty-something school buddies on a vacation bender are grief stricken to discover that they are not living the lives they promised their teenage selves. This is the first of this film’s many logic gaps as they carry on behaving exactly like teenagers, only they’re doing more drugs and more parties and more casual sex and more shouting WOOOO! And it only gets more nonsensical from there. But for the most part the mess is nicely thrown together by director Mark Pellington.
