The Florida Project

A more-than-you-can-eat pizza-slice of life, hot from the florid state – more specifically Orlando. It’s a short walk from Disneyland but a long, alligator-infested way downstream. The Florida Project features one of the most striking child performances in recent memory – maybe even since The Exorcist. Meanwhile Willem Dafoe gets an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of a benevolent motel patriarch and rent-collector, sliding inexorably into a vortex of well-meaning moral failure.
