Not quite moving on, she opts for a steamy relationship with her middle aged employer. To round off the good times he dumps her in the end to go back to doing his coworker. This short story is compelling, even combusting, but is wrapped in the larger and looser fabric of a convoluted and unengaging murder mystery, which serves mainly to expose no less than an entire new panoply of familial abuse elsewhere. There probably isn’t an unfuckedup relationship in the whole story. The only joy we get is watching a hot young actress go some paramilitary brand of cyperpunk medieval on everyone’s ugly ass, and ride a motorbike. |
